Waste that companies throw away comes in many forms, including foam. To dispose of it, many just simply throw it into a baler for compaction, but that isn’t ideal. Fortunately, foam densifiers can help.
Foam densifiers compact loose foam products into blocks for transportation and storage before they are recycled. So instead of just having your recycled foam sitting around waiting to be picked up, you can put it all together using a densifier, which makes it easier for waste companies to transport it.
There are different types of densifiers, including hydraulic, thermal, screw drive and hybrid, all of which operate in their own unique way.
Hydraulic densifiers, if you couldn’t tell from the name, use hydraulic pressure to compact foam and destroy its memory. Compacting this way requires no heat so there no smoke or odors are emitted from the machine. So where hydraulic densifiers don’t use heat, thermal densifiers do. They use it to break down foam into a long rope and then it is transferred into the containers it will be transported in.
Screw drive densifiers use augers to push the foam through at different speeds and pressure depending on the amount of foam it is handling. They operate best when the foam is one consistent density, so if your company has numerous types of foam they dispose of, this might not be the densifier for you. Hybrid densifiers combine parts of the hydraulics and screw drives to create a very efficient way of processing and compacting foam.
